Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
How much does it actually cost to replace my windscreen?
The replacement cost of a windscreen can vary from vehicle to vehicle. Modern vehicles have a wide range of safety and comfort features integrated into your windscreen, these can include antenna, rain sensing wipers, automatic headlights, and ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) cameras. These features can vary the cost of your windscreen from $300 up to $2000 and beyond. Call us or request a callback to obtain an obligation free quote for your particular vehicle.
What is Calibration?
Modern vehicles equipped with ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) cameras require a calibration after the installation of a new windscreen as these cameras are fitted to the windscreen. Calibration is the process of ensuring that the focal camera lens is functioning properly and is fixed on the correct distant focal point. All Clear Auto Glass does not perform calibrations, this will need to be organised separately.
Can my chip be repaired?
A windscreen chip can generally be repaired if it meets the Australian Standards for size and location, most chips that can be covered by a $1 coin and are further that 75mm from the edge of the glass can be repaired, saving you time and money. A chip repair can be done in 30 minutes and the vehicle can be drive straight away.
How long does it take to replace my windscreen?
2 hours… most typical windscreen replacements can be done in 40-60 minutes. As all modern windscreens are bonded to the vehicle and are a structural part of the vehicle the urethane then requires 1 hour after its application to cure before the vehicle can be (safety) driven.
Why is my windscreen leaking?
There are a few reasons why your windscreen could be leaking. This leak could be caused either by the formation of rust in the vehicles windscreen aperture or the previous windscreen installation was not carried out correctly.
